The Missouri Procurement Technical Assistance Center (MO PTAC) hosts this seminar on how to get started in the government contracting arena including federal, state and local government registrations and certifications. The Basics of Writing a Business Plan

This course is designed for business owners and managers who need to know how to create a business plan for their organization so the plan can be a useful management tool.

During this course, participants will learn the importance of business plans, the key required elements of a basic plan and data that must be included. Full of tips on writing style and professional appearance, this session will end with a greater understanding of what a business plan should look like and how to get started writing one.

Entrepreneurial Mindset Training – Independence

Do you want to learn how to be an entrepreneur?
Have a business idea that hasn’t yet been tested in the marketplace?

This class will empower learning through entrepreneurial thinking and immerse participants in experiences to develop entrepreneurial skills. You will accomplish these goals using a canvas tool to test assumptions in the real world rather than utilizing traditional business planning.

Class will be held March 28 – May 23 (Thursdays) from 5:30 – 8:30 pm at BlendWell Community Cafe in Independence.

Applications are open until March 8th.

With generous contributions from the City of Independence, those participants chosen to attend will pay only a $75 fee!

This session will have class on March 29, April 5, 12, 26, May 3, 10, 17, 24, June 7, 14 and 21 (note that April 19 and May 31 will be off weeks). Attendance at all 11 sessions is highly suggested.

The dates for classes in this session are April 23, 30, May 7, 14, 21.  Attendance at all five classes is highly encouraged.

This program helps aspiring entrepreneurs look at all aspects of their business idea, exploring the feasibility of their new venture and learning how to develop a viable business. This business creation program is fast-paced, interactive, fun and energizing.

The Small Business & Technology Development Center at UMKC ELEVATIONLAB™ offers the program in an accelerated time frame to let potential entrepreneurs get started with their businesses as soon as possible. Guest speakers and entrepreneurs bring their real-world experience to make topics come alive.

Participants develop their businesses through the group activities and coaching from professional business counselors. The class materials include FastTrac, GrowthWheel® and other elements with step-by-step activities and in-depth information. You don’t just learn about business, you work on your own business venture throughout the program.
